2026 ACHPER NT Members only - Bronze Medallion Update

ACHPER and RLSSA NT branch have teamed up to deliver an ACHPER NT branch members only FREE Bronze update. This course is for ACHPER financial members ONLY.  Participants must hold a current Bronze Medallion Qualification. If you do not hold a current Bronze Medallion or it has expired, you will need to book into the full Bronze Medallion course. Participants who successfully complete this award will be re-accredited with both Bronze Medallion and Resuscitation Awards. The Royal Life Saving Bronze Medallion Award should be renewed every 12 months. Nibbles will be provided. Be at the pool by 4pm with swimmers on ready to start on time.

This session will explore how squash can be used to develop movement skills, social awareness and a positive connection to physical activity. No squash courts, no problem.  The Squash Stars Primary School resource has been designed to support teachers to provide a fun and safe introduction to the game of Squash through a variety of modified games that can easily be adapted to most schools. The session will share practical teaching strategies that use a game-based approach to support personal and social capabilities. Participants will learn how to create inclusive and engaging learning environments that respond to the needs of all students. The session will also highlight the role of sport in building connections with families and the broader school community, with a focus on squash as a sport that supports participation across all ages and abilities.

The Royal Life Saving Society's Bronze Medallion Update Course offers great opportunities within the aquatic industry and beyond. This course is for ACHPER financial members wishing to update their current Royal Life Saving Bronze Medallion award. Please note: Participants must hold a current Bronze Medallion Qualification. If you do not hold a current Bronze Medallion or it has expired, you will need to book into the full Bronze Medallion course. Participants who successfully complete this award will be re-accredited with both Bronze Medallion and Resuscitation Awards. Come and join your ACHPER NT Executive at the annual International Women's Day March. No ticket or registration needed, just come and join us. International Women's Day | City of Darwin | Darwin Council, Northern Territory Head down to Civic Park on Saturday 8 March 2025 and join in the International Women's Day Walk and Celebrations! Saturday 8 March 2025 Dress code: Purple • 8:30 am – Gather at Civic Centre courtyard for Welcome to Larrakia Country and Smoking Ceremony. • 9:00 am – Darwin City Brass Band will lead the walk with roving performers and Kool Kats. • 9:15 am to 11:00 am – Civic Park, information stalls, free community BBQ, entertainment, face painting and Fun Bus. • If you are doing the short route please let the team at the information desk know before 9:00 am.   EVENT DETAILS For more information go to: darwin.nt.gov.au/iwd

The Primary course (covering Years 3-6) will help you develop the skills and confidence needed to teach relationships and sexual health education to primary years. This 2-day course, facilitated by experienced educators, empowers participants to develop skills and strategies to deliver a comprehensive relationships and sexual health curriculum program for students in primary years. Course Outline The course covers a range of resources and curriculum outlines, all mapped to the Australian Curriculum and Keeping Safe: Child Protection Curriculum. In this course, participants will: Explore topics and issues to cover in a comprehensive relationships and sexual health program for primary students Identify up-to-date sexual health information and statistics Engage with practical learning activities and teaching methods Develop facilitation skills and strategies for discussing sensitive issues Receive SHINE SA curriculum resource booklets and associated PowerPoints. Catering Light lunch and morning tea will be provided. Venue Tanami Conference Room - Ground Floor, Goyder Centre, 25 Chung Wah Terrace, Palmerston. To access the Goyder Centre, use the glass doors closest to the corner of The Blvd and Palmerston Cct. The Tanami Conference Room is on the ground floor along the corridor to the right of the elevator. Look for the ACHPER signage. Remote travel grants There are a number of remote travel grants available to PTANT association members. Please contact ptant.doe@education.nt.gov.au for application details. Learn how to teach comprehensive relationships and sexual health education to secondary years in a safe and inclusive environment. The 2-day course, facilitated by experienced educators, will examine what makes a comprehensive relationships and sexual health program for secondary years (covering years 7-10).
